"The primary value of the Grand Tour, it was believed, lay in the exposure both to the cultural legacy of classical antiquity and the Renaissance, and to the aristocratic and fashionably polite society of the European continent.
In addition, it provided the only opportunity to view specific works of art, and possibly the only chance to hear certain music. A Grand Tour could last from several months to several years."

I've finally made the leap and am heading off to the Continent on the 24th of November 2016.
Yes that's next week!! I fly into Rome (Leonardo Da Vinci airport ;-) and am booked to fly out of London 6 months later.
It's a rite of passage for the gentleman artist apparently, that is much overdue in my case!
I will post my itinerary here and will update the map with my current and "intended" future locations.
UPDATES February 2020 I've added a new map and am working on this page currently (February 2020).
November 2016: I've been updating the map above but have not used the blog. I'm posting stories to my Facebook page instead (Which are public).
